BigPanda’s November 2024 release focuses on expanding AI-driven insights, refining the incident management workflow, and providing greater flexibility for technical teams managing dynamic environments. With the addition of Biggy AI, improved integration capabilities, and meaningful API enhancements, BigPanda continues to evolve as a central hub for modern IT operations. Here’s what you need to know:

BigPanda Biggy AI: Actionable Insights at Your Fingertips

This release introduces Biggy AI, a context-aware incident management assistant designed to help you pinpoint root causes and understand complex operational data at scale. Biggy AI analyses your infrastructure data and knowledge base, offering insight-packed answers in natural language. This not only streamlines incident investigation but also empowers your teams to make faster, more informed decisions.

Key highlights:

  • AI-powered analysis: Biggy AI surfaces critical trends and insights from your event data, reducing the time spent sifting through logs and metrics.
  • Integrated where you work: Available directly in Slack and Microsoft Teams, Biggy AI delivers information right into your existing collaboration workflows—no extra tools required.
  • Smarter decisions, faster: By turning raw data into intuitive recommendations, Biggy AI helps improve productivity, service reliability, and incident response times.

Refined Incident Management Experience

Assign Incident Button Update:
Consistency and clarity matter. The incident assignment button is now pinned on the right side of the incident action options, making it easier to access and improving workflow consistency. This small UI tweak helps teams action incidents faster and with fewer clicks.

Automated Incident Analysis API:
For organisations using the Advanced Insight Module, a new API endpoint now provides AI-driven incident analysis summaries to external tools. This means you can incorporate BigPanda’s machine learning insights into your own automation scripts, dashboards, or reporting tools for a more cohesive operational picture.

System Improvements and Integration Updates

BPQL Wildcards:
The BigPanda Query Language (BPQL) now supports wildcards for IN and NOT IN operators, simplifying complex queries and enabling more flexible searches across your incident and alert data.

Integration Enhancements:
Minor updates to custom integrations—including AppDynamics and NewRelic—ensure consistent payload responses (now returning a 201 status on success) and clearer error messaging. Additionally, an increased AutoShare Quota limit by a factor of ten gives you more freedom when sharing incident data with external stakeholders or tools.

Deprecations to Note

Classic Incident Console:
The new Incident Console has been default since June 2024, delivering a more intuitive interface and better performance. On 31 January 2025, the option to revert to the classic console will be removed. If you haven’t already, now’s the time to embrace the enhanced experience and take advantage of the improved usability.

MS Teams Connectors:
Office 365 connectors are being replaced with Automate Workflows. All existing MS Teams integrations must migrate by 31 January 2025. This shift provides a more flexible and modern way to handle notifications and actions within Teams.

Thoughts
The November 2024 release brings some impressive advancements, particularly with Biggy AI leading the charge in simplifying incident management and delivering actionable insights directly into tools like Slack and Teams. This is a big step forward for teams looking to scale and work smarter.

However, there are areas where we see opportunities for further growth. While Biggy AI’s capabilities are promising, expanding its integration into additional collaboration platforms or incorporating even more customisation for responses could enhance its usability further. Similarly, the Automated Incident Analysis API is a strong addition, but making it accessible to more modules beyond Advanced Insight could provide broader value.

Looking ahead, it’d be exciting to see BigPanda explore more proactive AI capabilities, such as predictive incident prevention or automated root-cause suggestions before an incident escalates. Granular reporting enhancements and additional control over workflow customisation would also make the platform even more versatile for diverse operational needs.

BigPanda continues to showcase its commitment to innovation, but as always, the potential for even more impactful features leaves us eager for what’s next.
